GANDHINAGAR: In yet another move to empower the women of the state, chief minister Anandiben Patel’s government has cleared Gujarat’s first women-only Entrepreneur Park.
Patel, who is Gujarat’s first woman chief minister, has already granted women 50% quota in civic bodies and 33% reservation in police recruitments in the state in an effort to empower women. Further, she has also offered women entrepreneurs a number of financial and other incentives for setting up enterprises.
“In the first phase, 200 plots of 500 square metres each and 2,000 square metres plots will be offered to women entrepreneurs,” said a source.
“A proposal to give entrepreneurs 50% concession in cost of land as well as other financial benefits is under consideration and is likely to be cleared soon. The auction of plots is expected to start in the next two-three months,” said the source. “To prevent family members and others from acquiring or using the plots in the name of women, tough terms and conditions, including details of prior experience or some other qualification, will be set,” said the source.
